conservation helps the planet and our enjoyment of it.

Conservation relates to lots of different areas, but the most prominent in the world at the moment, and for the foreseeable future, relates to the conservation of nature and animals. This has fast become one of the most important areas of conservation due to the heightened publicity and exposure of problems such as deforestation, the uninformed and often illegal practises surrounding dam building, and the privatisation of forests and stretches of land.

The act of conservation seeks not only to protect the environments themselves but also everything associated with them. One of the biggest problems with deforestation comes not from the lack of trees but a lack of animals that are able to survive in their new environment. Many animals have evolved to specialise for forest life, and as such it is difficult for them to settle anywhere that they have not been specifically designed to live in. This has since caused to extinction of thousands of species, many of them having only been discovered a short time previously. To think that we are killing off species that we have never even seen or heard of is rather incredible, which is why conservation has taken the front seat in terms of politics, and in a social sense as well.

Animal conservation has therefore also become more widespread as increased exposure of the animals’ plight for survival has affected more people than ever before. There is always something you can do to help, as small or as big as you can manage.
